Deck: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tarot by Casey Filly and Karl Mountford
THIS MAY CONTAIN BUFFY SPOILERS. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Today at 12:23 pm the Moon in Cancer will square Chiron in Aries. The Moon represents our personal needs, our unconscious, feelings, maternal parent and intuition. Chiron rules our unresolvable wounds, childhood scars, our biggest vulnerabilities/strengths, insecurities, and our spiritual gifts. Chiron in Aries can trigger wounding around identity, feeling as if you don’t have one or lack the ability to project yourself out onto the world. It can also manifest as feeling disconnected to self, wounds around independence, self-expression, and self-assertion. This could feel like solar plexus blockages, the chakra that is at our stomach related to confidence and autonomy. A square is like flint to fire, it helps it spark. The square brings with it enough tension for action to happen or a breakthrough to occur. The Full Moon in Cancer brought up deep emotional topics to the surface. I was definitely in my feels last night thinking about my bio family and my lack of belonging to them. This transit is an opportunity to confront wounds and gradually let go. Grief is an interesting phenomenon; it doesn’t dissipate all at once. But gradually over time, you have many tiny deaths in grief, it becomes less all-consuming and you are able to walk a little bit freer.
For insight on this transit I pulled The World which is very on theme for the Full Moon in Cancer. The World symbolizes karmic cycles coming to completion, integration of universal lessons, luck and accomplishments. Depicted on this card is Buffy holding her Class Protector Award, a parasol, given to her in “Prom” the Season 3 finale. This award represents that her graduating class was aware of the many times she saved their lives which meant a lot to Buffy because her legacy doesn’t come with a salary or any benefits. This parasol really touched her heart and was another example that Buffy’s greatest motivator as a slayer was her love for other people. Very Cancerian. Examine what wounds have been unearthed for you recently and how you can give them loving attention. What can you let go of that is no longer serving you? Are there ways you give yourself up to other people and how can you refrain from that? What relationships reciprocate your labor and how can you spend time cultivating those? What have you accomplished this year? Take time to congratulate yourself! Give yourself a lot of tender love.
